I am co-hosting Fun With Food Friday this week with SnOzBeRrYz. Mama Chocolate has been crazy busy and couldn’t cook up anything, but I’m sure she’ll join back up next week!
If you’ve never seen one of these posts before, I’ll let you know what it’s all about. Mama Chocolate hosts Fun with Food Friday every week and she selects one or two bloggers to be her cohosts. We all cook up a recipe that one of her readers has sent in to her.
This week, I made Cuban Black Beans sent in by Wendy N.
Here’s the recipe:
CUBAN BLACK BEANS
1 lb. (2 cups, dried) black beans
1/2 large onion, chopped
1/2 large bell pepper, chopped
5-6 garlic cloves, minced
1 t. EVOO
1 1/2 T. cumin
1 T. salt
2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 ham hock
Put all ingredients into crockpot. Add boiling water to cover beans. Add more water as needed during cooking. Cook on high for 4-5 hours. Serve over rice.
My camera is currently hiding from me, so I can’t show you a picture of the food. :( When I locate it, I will add it for you!!!
We liked this recipe overall. We did have to add salt to it once it was on our plates, but that’s okay. I would rather that, than have it be too salty.
Hope you enjoy!
