You ever go to the farmer’s market and see a bunch of herbs for sale, but never buy them because you don’t know what to do with them??
Do you also have trouble drinking enough water or getting your kids to drink enough water?
This simple recipe is your answer to both scenarios!
1baggy of lemon basil
1 baggy of apple mint
Now, the reason, I say one ‘baggy’ of lemon basil and apple mint is because that is the farmers at my farmer’s market sells it. It’s one of those sandwich bag size baggies. And they were filled really well, too.
Anyway, take your basil and mint and wash the leaves to your liking. Stuff them in the container you are using. I used a Santa Cruz juice bottle. I don’t buy juice often, but sometimes I will buy the Santa Cruz brand lemonade or other juice. When I do, I always save the bottle. It is perfect for a water bottle or anything else you want to drink. And you are drinking from glass instead of plastic!
Anyway, back to the recipe… stuff your leaves in the bottle/pitcher. Then, fill it with water. Put it in the fridge for a bit and enjoy!
If you drink it right away, you won’t really taste the herbs. You need to let the flavors meld a little. Ours was in the fridge for about 4 hours before we tried it for the first time.
The beauty of this, too, is that every time you get a drink from it, you can just put more water in it to fill it back to the top. And it will continue to be flavorful!
This water is SO refreshing! It’s perfect for gatherings, because it makes you look all fancy! ;)
Let me know how yours turns out… or if you use different herbs, let me know how it worked for you! I would love to hear some new ideas. :)
