Homemade Eggnog Recipe

Homemade Eggnog Recipe - Perfect for the #Holidays

Is eggnog a part of your family Christmas and/or New Year’s traditions?

Have you ever read the ingredients list???

Eggnog ingredients

Pretty gross, right!?

Well, I have an easy solution for you… make your own!!

All you need is a blender and these ingredients:

  • 24 oz. milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 dashes salt
  • 1/8 t. cinnamon
  • 1 dash nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 t. vanilla extract
  • ice (optional)

Those ingredients are much better, right???

First thing you will do is take your eggs and put them in a bowl and run hot water over them for about 10 minutes.  This will make it safer to eat the eggs raw. (Disclaimer: It is not safe to eat raw eggs.)

Okay, so while the eggs are sitting in the hot water, go ahead and mix up your milk, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in the blender.

Add your eggs and mix it up thoroughly. Add your vanilla extract and mix for a few seconds and you’re done.

If you want it more like a slushy, add ice and blend it up!

There you go. Now you have a healthier eggnog! enjoy!

P.S. I shared this on Delicious Dish Tuesday!

I have never had Egg Nog before – I did not realize there was raw egg in it. I’m not sure I could stomach that!

I haven’t had eggnog in so long because of the yucky stuff in the store bought kind so I just might have to try this out this week!
