Do you do a Circle Time in your home?
We never really have done an “official” one, but I have thought of doing some things together throughout our day. I just never really sat down to figure out how to do it properly.
Preschoolers and Peace has given me a complimentary copy of their Circle Time e-book so that I can review it for you wonderful people reading right now!
It is full of great advice on how to successfully implement a circle time in your home. It includes testimonials and question and answer from people who have actually used Circle Time.
There is no right way to do a Circle Time. That is the main thing I learned from the book. The main thing is just to get your family together. Whether that is for 10 minutes or 2 hours doesn’t matter as much.
The book starts off by telling you how to organize your Circle Time and figure out what you actually want to do during that time… complete with a couple of helpful printables to help you brainstorm. (This was nice for me… I’m a sucker for making lists.)
When you start your circle time, you have to be okay with it not going smoothly at first. Give yourself the first couple weeks or so to figure out how it will work with your family.
The way we do school, there is no way we can do a 2 hour Circle Time like the author of the book does. Short, 10-15 minute time slots are all we can do. That being said, it is still great for that.
Our family is able to start our day with a Circle Time of 10-15 minutes where we pray together, talk about who in our life needs prayer, if we have any concerns going on, and have each of us state something we are thankful for in our life. Also a great time to read a book aloud!
I have been wanting to do this anyway, and this e-book was just the nudge I needed to get it going!
It is so wonderful to start the day in prayer and remember what we are thankful for in life!
I look forward to a time when we can use the Circle Time to also do subjects that the kids can all do together.
Information at a glance:

Sounds great! We are struggling to have *any* time where the whole family is together. At least we are getting dinner together. :-P Hopefully life settles down a bit soon.

We’ve never done circle time at home either but now that we’re homeschooling it seems like it might be really beneficial, especially with all the energy it takes out of you. It seems like a good way to do something together and take a little breather. Sometimes 10-15 minutes is all I need to recoup!
