Marcy, over at Ben and Me, does a blogging through alphabet post each week and other bloggers are encouraged to join in on the fun and write up a post each week as well.
I have seriously been wanting to join in on this linky for a year and a half. No joke.
Today, I she posted her most recent alphabet post and I decided I was going to join in and I was going to sit down and write the post RIGHT NOW! If I don’t write it right now, it won’t happen.
So, they are in the middle of the alphabet, at the letter Q.
My letter Q post is about Qi.
Do you know what Qi is?
Qi is a variant of the word “chi”. Both words mean “vital energy that is held to animate the body internally and is of central importance in some Eastern systems of medical treatment (as acupuncture) and of exercise or self-defense (as tai chi)”. That is according to Merriam-Webster.
Okay, cool… so it’s energy that we hold inside ourselves. Energy that I believe either God placed there and/or is run by God. Which is probably different than the Chinese see it, but that’s okay.
I don’t know if you ever check out urbandictionary.com, but the definition on Urban Dictionary for Qi is “A short word commonly used in Scrabble to piss off another person. More often than not, it plays off of an I that lays next to a triple letter score, scoring an absurd amount of points for such a small amount of effort.”
Now, THIS is the definition of Qi that actually explains WHY I even know the word exists.
I have been playing Words with Friends on my phone and it is an often used word by myself and my friends with whom I play. And, as the urban dictionary definition states, it usually gives the person quite a lot of points for only playing one or two letters.
So, while I don’t know about this word because I’m all enlightened and knew about the vital energy that it is. I am thankful for this little word and all the points it gives me against my words with friends opponents.
Have you ever heard this word? Do you play words with friends?
Click the button here if you want to check out other “q” posts for the week. Some are very creative!
I have had evil thoughts towards you because of “Qi”. Nice to know about “qat” too. That reminds me…I am probably days (weeks?) overdue for my turn, huh?

Barenaked Ladies have a kids album called Snacktime. One of our favorites is an alphabet song with all kinds of obscure words (qat is one of them). Great album, hilarious song, wonderful help with Scrabble!

Yep, Words with Friends is exactly how I even heard of the word Qi, and yes I have played it for some decent points before, though usually the point value ends up being low as I just need to get rid of the q. I never did look the word up though. I was quite content just knowing it is a word I can use.

lol… Yeah… Of course I would pick to start on the week they are on the letter Q! :) I’m glad I got the first one done, though, because now I will be more motivated to join in on future weeks. :)

LOL – yes, I love QI in Words with Friends. Well, when I’m the one posting it, anyway… My other favorite word is QAT. (It’s an evergreen shrub.)
