Today, I wanted to talk a bit about how we have our school area set up at our office. We do not have a large office, but there is a hallway with a little open area about 8’ by 10.5’.
On the wall in this area, we have set up a 6 foot table with 3 chairs.
This is a picture of the hallway leading down to the school area (which is also the hallway that leads to our exam room, x-ray room, dark room and bathroom for patients to use.
Oh, and we have 3 cats that think they own that part of the office. :)
The next couple of pictures are of the main area where the kids do school and hang out. They each have a magazine holder that most of their books go in so they stay fairly organized. That black shelf to the right of the table holds random reading books on the bottom. The top shelf has oddly shaped games and school items. For instance, on that top shelf are pattern games for Olivia to use. And on the VERY top of the bookcase, there are games the kids can play. They play them during non school times or if they want a break from regular school work. Most of them are educational, but some are just for fun.
Then, on the table, they have a computer they can use for their school work. They also use it during break time to watch a show on disney.com or nick.
As you can see, off to the left of the bookcase is a little kitchen. That is for Olivia. It keeps her busy quite a bit and she loves it.
Hanging on the coat rack is a calendar from Melissa and Doug. The kids love having their own calendar and clock back there.
And, finally, below that, there is a black trunk. There are random toys and dolls and such in there for the kids to play with during non school hours.
So, even if you don’t have much room (remember there is only an 8 foot by 10 foot area here), you can use your space to make it work for you!
I hope this gave you some inspiration!!
How do you have your office school area set up??
