See It And Say It Flip Flop Spanish {Review}

September 27, 2013 by Nicole @ Some Call It Natural Leave a Comment

My kids and I have tried out a few different ways to learn Spanish. Now, thanks to Flip Flop Learning sending us a complimentary package, called See It And Say It Flip Flop Spanish, we have been able to try out another one!

This program is a complete 2 year Spanish curriculum for ages 3 and up.

There are a few things that I liked right away with this curriculum.

Easy to follow directions, with everything ready to go!

A lot of curriculums we have used (not necessarily Spanish) seem to have convoluted instructions that take an additional degree to decipher. And if that weren’t bad enough, then we have to print things off or cut things or you name it, in order to use the curriculum according to the directions.

This is the exact opposite way that Flip Flop Learning is set up. Setting up the curriculum to use it is as easy as unwrapping some cellophane and placing materials in a binder. Seriously… that’s it.

Here’s what it looks like when you get it.

Everything comes in a nice, sturdy box. Once you open the box, right in front of you, you see everything laid out with directions on how to get it set up!

Then, you lift up that top part where the instructions are and reveal the rest of the box of goodies!

The colorful directions there on the right, tell you exactly what to do with all the stuff and you are set up in less than 5 minutes.

The directions on how to do each daily lesson are within the first few pages of the curriculum (which comes already hole punched and ready to go into a binder, complete with a binder edging.)

Okay, once you’ve got it all together, and you’ve taken a few minutes (literally just a few minutes) to read your instructions, you are ready to do the first lesson!

Just put in the first CD and play the track indicated in the first lesson.

You are speaking in sentences by the end of the first lesson

So often when learning a language, it’s all about memorizing vocabulary words. While it is good to know vocabulary in any language, you still have to know how to put those words together to form sentences if you ever expect to communicate with anyone that speaks that language.

With See It and Say It, you are speaking sentences by the end of the first lesson! It teaches you a few words, including “I like” and “I need”, and then shows you how to put it all together as a sentence! Very cool!

All of my kids can do the lessons together (and me too!).

This is a major plus for me! It is always a great thing when my kids can do a subject together. It just saves time for everyone, plus the fact that they can study together. And, I am sitting with them during the lessons too, so I can brush up on my Spanish. I have never been fluent, but I at least used to be able to understand most of what people were saying in Spanish. I can’t say that today! I have forgotten almost everything! With this program, it is all coming back to me quickly!

At the end of the first lesson, the kids got to play a pictionary-type game with the white board paddle. One person would draw a picture of one of the vocabulary words on the board and the other one would have to say what it is in Spanish! They had fun with that one.

This really is a wonderful curriculum that we plan to continue for the full 2 years. I’m excited to see how well we can speak to our Spanish speaking friends at the end of that time frame!
