Our yard has been beautiful the last couple of weeks.
I thought I would share some of that beauty with those of you that enjoy nature.
The tree in this picture is my favorite tree in the yard. It is a wonderful red/pink for only a short time each year, but I love it.
It was this color for an unfortunately short time this year. Less than a week. Oh well… I still loves those few days!
P.S. Aren’t my kid’s Easter eggs gorgeous!?
Speaking of my kids and Easter eggs. This is how the youngest was looking for an egg this year. (Do you see the blue egg?)
She decided to throw the leaves up over her head.
It was surprisingly easy to comb out of her hair. I’m glad I had a moment of momhood where I was able to relax and let her have fun like that.
This next picture has been the most interesting spring growth this year.
See all those leaves popping up?
Those are the beginnings of little trees!
If you are a tree person, I would love to know what kind they are, so the kids and I can look up more about them!
I tried to look it up, but frankly, there are so many trees out there, it was hard to narrow it down.
Tomorrow, I will take a picture of one of them close up with the seed/nut so you can see it. It looks so cool.
The seeds/nuts are actually still on the surface of the ground. It opens up and sends the roots down into the ground and then the stem and leaves go up.
It was a great way to talk about gravitropism that the kids and I learned about last year in our Apologia Botany.
I love it when real life shows us what we are learning in school!
Here’s another picture that shows more of the yard and just how many of them were growing.
Hubby mowed the lawn yesterday, so they are all gone, but it was cool to see them.
Oh! And one of the most exciting things happening at our house this spring??
Most of you know our sweet cat had babies a few weeks ago.
Well, they are doing great! They are walking now and have started to play with each other!! It is adorable!
