You are Loved… Seriously… I Love You

July 9, 2016 by Nicole @ Some Call It Natural 2 Comments

You. Reading this right now.

I love you.

I don’t care what color your skin is, what you do for a career, whom you want to sleep next to every night, who you are voting for, or what God you profess to worship (or not).

I am a straight, white, Christian woman.

Some of you reading that will assume that also means I hate gays, I’m racist, and that I can’t be friends with anyone that doesn’t believe in God.

Let me just stop you right there.

You couldn’t be further away from the truth.

I love homosexuals.

I love black people.

I love cops and engineers and entrepreneurs and janitors and cooks and doctors.

I love people who love God and people who laugh at the fact that I believe in God.

Okay… This is starting to sound super cheesy and fake.

I’m not meaning for it to… I just truly do love all those people.

You are Loved... We Love You

After the Orlando shooting, many of my friends on Facebook, both homosexual and straight, had things to say about it.

The straights were the usual posts about how sad it is and so on. Not that it wasn’t sincere, but it was just different than the posts from my homosexual friends.

My homosexual friends expressed a deep sadness. The kind of sadness they had a hard time even finding the right words to articulate.

It was more than sadness, though, it was fear. Fear of holding their loved one’s hand in public. Fear their life was in danger for being them.

After 2 black men were shot 2 days in a row, I saw the same thing. Non blacks were upset, but my black friend’s posts were different.

Their posts expressed more than sadness. They expressed fear. Fear for their black sons and brothers. Fear of their life being in danger for being them.

After 11 Dallas police officers were shot, just for being white police officers, and 5 of them consequently died, there was more of the same.

This time we had more anger than sadness, but still the emotions run high.

And, again, the posts on Facebook expressed more than just sadness. It was fear. Police officers afraid to go out and do their job. Not sure of who will be around the corner. Police officer’s family fearful about whether or not their officer will come back home. Fear of their life being in danger because of the career they chose.

Here’s the thing…

All of these groups of people feel as if they are hated. And, don’t get me wrong, they have good reason for feeling that way. They are all literally being gunned down.

I want you to clearly hear what I’m about to say. Ready?

I love you

I love you.

I truly don’t care what color skin you have or who you love. Seriously.

As a Christian, I am called to love everyone. I am not to judge.

Now, I realize not all Christians seem to share those thoughts, but I want you to know that I think there are more of us that love you than there are those that hate you. A true Christian would not hate you. Period.

So, I beg you to ignore the “loud Christians”. The ones who say you are going to hell for who you love. The ones who say you are a lesser race because you have darker skin than they do.

Quite simply… They are wrong. And they are not following the teachings of the One they pray to. And, quite simply… there aren’t that many of them. They are the minority.

Real love

Some of you may be thinking, “Okay, fine… she “loves” me… but what does that really mean? It’s just that “fake”, “unconditional” love… She doesn’t REALLY love me.”.

Okay… you got me. Some of you I do just love because I feel I’m called to love you. It doesn’t make it any less real, though.

That being said… some of you I LOVE. Like, so much that if someone hurts you, I may have to hurt them in a way that would make me a poor Christian.

And, you know what? They love me too.

They are “shirt off your back” type friends. Do you know the type I’m talking about? The kind that would drop everything if you needed them. The kind that would take off their own shirt if you didn’t have a shirt to wear. Good people with amazing hearts.

Like, my friends Rob and Ricky, from high school. Rob once drove from gas station to gas station for me because I HAD to have a coke slushie. And, I was one of the people Ricky would come to with all his girlfriend problems and he was there for me with an ear when I needed to talk, as well. Oh, I’m sorry… did I mention they are gay? Hearts of gold, those two. They deserve to live.

And, for real don’t say anything bad about me or do anything to me with my friend Jessica around. She’ll have your head on a platter. Yeah… she’s gay too. She deserves to live.

Then there’s my friend, Zandrya. For real, I dare you to say something bad about me within earshot of her. And, my friend, Patrick, if I needed a shirt, he would literally take his off and give it to me. Both of those people are black. They deserve to live.

They don’t just deserve to live. They deserve to live without fear. For no other reason than they are HUMAN.

Forget all the other labels… They are HUMAN and deserve to live how they want to live and not fear for their life.

LOVE

Just in case I haven’t gotten my point across by now, because I know I can tend to ramble…

I love you.

And, it’s not just me…

Those that hate you are the minority!! Unfortunately, they are just a loud minority.

Listen to the majority… We love you!

We love you no matter whom you love. We love you no matter what color skin you have. We love you police officers, whom put their lives on the line for us every day.

Please know that what is really being fought in all of these situations is hate. It’s not sexual orientation or skin color or badge. It’s hate.

There always has been and always will be more love in the world than hate.

Let’s spread the love. Send this post to all of your friends that need more love. Send it to those whom think more people hate them than love them. Let them know they are wrong.

I love you for you. Keep being you.
