Do your young ones (or even older ones) want or need an email address, but the newfound freedom is a little worrisome for you? Enter Kids Email! They have created a safe way for your child to have an email address. They gave us a one-year subscription to “Kids Email Safe Email for Kids” in order to try it out so we could tell you all about it! :)

Whew! That’s a lot of features! There are too many to go into detail about all of them, but I want to expand on a few to help you understand them.
Mail Monitoring
Let’s just being with the first feature on my list. What does “mail monitoring mean”?? Simply put, it means you see everything. You, as the parent, will receive a copy of every email your child sends or receives. Now, if you want to give your child a bit more freedom with her messages, you can disable that function. I think it’s good you can disable it for your older children to give them a little more privacy and independence.
Mail Queue
While you can disable the mail monitoring for your older kids, you will still have the option to intercept emails that might have questionable content using the mail queue. There are multiple safety rules you can apply to your kid’s account, such as only allowing people who are contacts to email her. So, using that as an example, if you have an email in your queue from her cousin, because that cousin isn’t a contact yet, you can then add them as a contact so future emails from that cousin will go to your child. If you see an email in the queue that you disagree with, you can deny it so it is never seen by your child, too.
Block Senders, Ads, and Spam
You know all the yucky stuff no one likes to see in their email? Well, you won’t have to worry about your kids seeing it. You can block certain senders. There are no ads, ever. And Kids Email tries to eliminate spam completely. On the off chance spam gets through, it will just end up in your queue anyway, so it’s really not an issue.
Read It
This is a neat feature for the younger kids. When your child selects this feature, the email will be read out loud to them. This is great to do just for fun or for kids that are still learning to read.
Drawing Board
This is another fun feature. If you’ve got a creative kid in your house, she will love this feature! She can draw a picture for someone on the screen and email it to them.
Our House
My 10-year-old daughter is excited to be able to communicate via email with cousins and grandparents. This coming school year, I can see myself giving her “assignments” to send someone to help her practice her writing skills.
