Before this review, I had never heard of Library and Educational Services LLC so I’m happy to be potentially sharing it with others like me.
What is Library and Educational Service LLC??
Good question! Library and Educational Services LLC (LES) is a wholesaler of books, CD’s, and DVD’s, which are 30% to 70% (and sometimes more) off of the publisher’s price.
They also consider themselves a Christian company. They review all of the material that comes to them before posting on their website to be sure it upholds to Biblical standards.
The word “library” in their name is quite fitting. There are so many books to choose from on this website!
For the purposes of the this review, though, I was able to choose one Who Was … ? book, one of the Lifehouse Theater CDs, and a few of the Reinforced Hardcover Library Binding Nonfiction books.
Who Was…?
I have seen books from the Who Was…? series of books before and I have always wanted to have them. LES has over a hundred of the Who Was…? books for you to choose from. I chose Claude Monet for my daughter because she has been really interested in art lately.
She enjoyed learning more about Claude Monet. She had even done some “Monet” type art last year at our homeschool tutorial so that made it a little more special.
LES also offers some of the books in this series as sets. When you buy the sets you save even more money than you already are saving already! I would LOVE to just buy them all!!
Lifehouse Theater CD
Currently, there are 7 Lifehouse Theater CD’s to choose from. I got the “Trapped in Aesop’s Fables” CD for Olivia. She likes to listen to books while she lies in bed at night to go to sleep.
She enjoyed these stories. I listed in on parts of it. The narrator has a great voice and told the stories well. There are multiple voices for the different characters in the CD, so that was nice.
Reinforced Hardcover Library Binding Nonfiction books
Here is where the real challenge in choosing our books came in to play.
LES has between 200 and 300 of the Reinforced Hardcover Library Binding Nonfiction books to choose from, so it ended up being a really difficult decision! In the end, I decided to get a set of books about vehicles for my 15 year old son. I thought he would like that as he is obsessed with cars. I got a set of history books about railroads, and a set of comic type books that teach about the government.
Quality and Service!!
I’m impressed with both! Service is in the name of the company and they truly did a great job and packaging and shipping these books carefully.
The quality of the books is top notch! They were shipped to me very carefully. If it was a set of books, the set was surrounded in plastic wrapping. I was impressed.
My younger two kids are not big readers. They do not read voluntarily hardly at all. Of course, I have them read certain things for school and encourage reading, but so far, the love of reading has not been acquired. My son has begun to like nonfiction books, though.
All that to say, it’s hard for me to evaluate these books on how much my kids liked them. My daughter tolerated them because I asked her to read them. My son enjoyed the car books! If you have a car lover in your house, I would advise you to get that set of books. When I asked him about it, he said, “It was cool. I liked it.” If you have a 15 year old son, then you know that is an endorsement!!
I didn’t involve my kids at all in my decisions because I thought it might take hours if I did that. And, even though they did end up liking all of the books I got, I think I will enlist their help next time. It could prove to be a fun shopping experience. Plus, I would get to know a little more about what my kids are interested in, which gets more and more important as they get older.
